Search

truth

In my external search for meaning
No one person could reveal me
The answer to the riddle of life
A solution that was deep inside me
That which lay dormant in my soul
Could be summoned by none save me
Through guidance did I extract truth
Many have tried to steer my ethics
From the dawn of my virgin knowledge
I was taught not truth but rather faith
When finally I resolved the difference
Verily had I become enlightened to life
The seedlings of wisdom were planted
Blossoming into a lotus of enlightenment
Catching my dreams, refining my Chakra
Flowers which grew amid Belladonna
Bewitching and beguiling petals of desire
In the breast of this garden did I seek truth
But wisdom withheld the secrets of faith
Though my heart thirsted to be quenched inside it
And my body yearned to hold and touch it
The mysteries that faith cajoled remain silent
Only this has been revealed unto my tired eyes
Yesterday is the history recorded from today
Tomorrow is the dreams of today’s future self
And with each tick and every beat of the heart
Truth reveals to me that time never existed
It was created in its own image
Follow the path that love carves
And enjoy the ride

Consumed By Memories

consumption

She came into my life
Stayed there for a while
Creating a new story
We drank and danced
We sang and laughed
When the music ended
Life parted our direction
Left a memory in the wake
To fill in some blank pages
Of my unfinished novel
A chapter in a love story
On my bookshelf of life
Once again I am consumed
By conflict and resolution
Sad stories sway in the past
Tender songs left unremembered
Hoping to be erased once more
But nothing is ever completely forgotten
Not really
So I add another reflection to my hill
That mountain of memories
That I climb everyday
Which consumes my being
One heartbeat at a time

End Of This Game

end-of-game

When all that remains
Is what’s gone by
And darkness fills up the light
Will the records show
He tried hard to glow
Burning a candle to brighten the night
When the clock runs out
Will the people shout
He wanted it all but he did without
But looked down and sighed
Just could never apply
He once had it but now he doesn’t
When it comes down to goodbyes
Once the wells have all dried
Please remember he tried
Just couldn’t be what he wasn’t
So when the ease of his pains
Become dusty remains
Will anyone still softly whisper his name
Or will they laugh at his fate
After such a tedious wait
To reach the end of this game

Crime of Misfortune

captivity

Raised in chains of depravity
Shackled down catwalks
Degraded and dehumanized
Every second of every day
Colonized for profit
Tattooed by flagellation
Forced into toil
Tilling the soil of the iceman
Together in the fields of despair
They sang the songs of captivity
So painful
So hopeless
So angry
Yet so beautiful
Melodies arranged in emotional chaos
Music glowing in hues of blues
All asking the same question
Why
They didn’t understand
Why they were stripped from their homes
Taken so far away
To become trade for chattel
How they’re lives changed so fast
Wondering why does it take so long
To grow old and die
So they could be free
Moaning in harmony
They prayed hopeful
Never giving up on their God
The slightest bit of optimism
A tiny plume of hope
Rose above the cotton puff clouds
And a hazy shade of regret
Appeared on the faces of their captors
In a half smile of distain and dominance
A shot of high class bourbon
To wash away the shame they bore
Of committing humans to a lifetime of pain
For desiring freedom
The crime of being born too innocent
Or perhaps looking too different
Punishable by oppression eternal
A crime of gross misfortune

Cost

cost

I want that
How much does it cost
I need to have it
At any cost
Nothing is free
Everything has a cost
Falling in love has cost
Falling out of love has cost
Being nice and being mean
Have a cost
Being right and being wrong
Have a cost
So is cost the one true omnipotent?
The omnipresent?
Even faith comes at a cost
God comes at a cost
Allah certainly comes at a cost
Even Jehovah and Vishnu come at a cost
Cost is our one true master
To be an Existentialist or an Atheist
Comes at a cost
Anarchy costs everyone
We all pay a cost
Just to be who we are
To be what we want
For every decision
For every action
Every fucking thing we do
There is a cost
Politics cost us friendships, family, and integrity
Government is nothing but costs
Acting like the chameleon
Hiding what the real costs are
Not money but personal cost
Selling out who we thought we were
Exchanging one cost for another
What is the cost of existence?
The cost of survival?
Do we win at any cost
Must we sufferer the cost of defeat
Cost isn’t just a human condition
It’s a condition set by corporations
Through exploitation
They determine what we want
And what cost we are willing to pay
In the end it the cost of our very souls
That’s what cost us the most
Yet we allow them to set a price
On the cost of our own surrender
The cost of giving up hope
You can have peace if you’re willing to pay
It will cost you dearly
What shall we pay to overcome the costs of being alive
Only death
Never give up, never give in ……

Awaiting The Raven

mirror

Who owns that face
Look deeper
In the mirror
Do you see them?
Sad tired eyes
Echoing back
Tormented orbs
Dimensions of sorrow
Volumes of pain
Clouds of regret
Obscuring the view
But I see
Fragmented visions
Broken glass
Pieces of pasts
Vows crumbling
Degradation and humiliation
People pointing
Laughing from afar
Whispering rumors
Stinging sarcasm
Now I see the reflection
An old man waiting
To meet the Raven
Be brave old friend

Look!
There in the mirror
Image comes clearer
Hair of silver
Vaguely familiar
Lines from laughter
Deep of disaster
Tracks from tears
Shed over years
Who owns that face
Who’s been misplaced
That can’t be me
I look so hollow
A bitter pill to swallow
The anguish and rage
My refection has aged

I wasted so many breaths
Trying to change
What had already occurred
Can’t change the past
So I guess my advice
Would be this
Waste no time
Attempting to alter
What has come and gone
Focus your efforts
On forging a future
Bury your past
Because before you know it
You become a strained reflection of yourself
Awaiting the Raven

Seeker Of Truth

seeker

I knelt naked before a gallery of gods
Waiting in judgment of singular rule
Which divinity will clothe me in faith
I seeker of truth
Searching the chasm of dominions
Pleading for some truth I bared my soul
The mother romancer received me
Adorned me with dreams to dream
Fed me certitude to consume my cynicism
I gave unto her my unwavering fidelity
But it was not truth

So many sleeps have come and gone
The dreams so long ago forgotten or gone
Many a deity swaddled me in hypocrisies
I the seeker of truth
Now standing at the dawn of my twilight
Looking to the oracle of enlightenment
Who reveals to me a painting of words
My eyes ached red as I perused salvation
The scriptures given were barren of fact
Yet gleefully exalted in lessons melodic
Cold and calculated I memorized the songs
But it was not the truth

I sang of prophesies written on the wind
Which gently blew out the light from the stars
Alone in my darkness I light the lantern of quest
I the seeker of truth
Once more Mother Romancer beckoned me
Asked me to quench her spiritual passions
I gave to her free from the weight of gratitude
Yet still I was cast in the molding of evil
Alone in the unlit passageway I open my eyes
For only from darkness can we truly see light
That is my truth

Too Much Truth

truth

The truth can break the bonds which burden you
But too much enlightenment can shine a false beam
Illuminating the nighttime’s with unwanted realities
Casting the darkness of an eclipse upon daylight
Revealing the impurity of our own righteousness
Sculpting our rectitude and directing the moral compass
Seeing too much truth can reveal a lack of honor
Integrity is a marble rock chiseled by truths
The more you take away the more you see
Unless it’s carved into a likeness of the self
If we search the answer in the puddles of ego
Unaware that the reflection is aggrandizing
For all of us stand in the same sunlight
Yet we all cast a uniquely separate shadow
Our silhouettes traced upon the same moon
Yet each exclusive to the music of our own profile
We can stifle the drumsticks that beat our rhythm
We can loosen the strings of our cogent guitars
But we can never stop the songs of our truth
For our legitimacy will lay upon us as a harness
Directing us to places we never knew existed
Perhaps the graveyard where memories go to die
Perhaps the nursery where dreams are conceived
The search existential is far from a mere crisis
It’s a revelation to the edification of true life
Oft times much too hard to carry by oneself
If I could I would hold midnight in my hands
And offer it to you as love to guide you to victory
Because one of my truths is I’m tired of losing
Not of harmonies mislaid but of people gone
I struggle because each day I see all of them
I see their eyes
The hope, the anger, despair and joy
I see them close their eyes to dream
All of them lost as a rainbow at dawn
And that’s too much truth for me to bear

Live and Love in Peace

Regrets, I’ve Had A Few

regret

What do I regret?
In somber reflection
I’ve destroyed many hearts
Without ever wondering why
Perhaps it was an inept attempt
At protecting my own
Last night the first I ever broke
Came to visit me at my home
An echo of loves labour lost
Flowing passions turned to frost
I served us up a cup of tea
Brewed from past sorrow
And a lost memory
A reminder of who we used to be
Back in the days when believed
We could be free
Dancing and laughing in the sand
Searching out that distant land
There was a time we had it all
Why did the walls of the sandcastle fall
She said “lover what went wrong?”
“All we have left is this sad sad song
What happened to our youthful glow
Where did it go?”
I don’t even remember what we fought about
But I know our clock ran out
Before we ever arrived
Meandered down so many paths
No answer found but one question asked
What can we do to make love last
Before you know it the clock tics away
And time goes by so fast
Suddenly your future is in the past
Jumbled days fall through the cracks
Different truths and different facts
Tiny moments had profound effect
Some small decisions went unchecked
Small pieces of life
With big consequence
Love in fraudulence
Life altering experiences
Seemingly forgotten
The rancid and rotten
Then suddenly remembered
Yet the query still at play
Never learned how to make love stay
Witnessed four births
Sat through four deaths
Religious tests
That change you
Make you forget
I broke many hearts
That’s what I regret

Mighty Meg

These words are not meant to elicit sympathy or empathy or instill a sense of sadness or regret, but to inspire an urgency to express love, to share love, to experience love, and proclaim love before time denies you that privilege….   Live and Love in Peace

She sailed into the world
On a gilded cloud
Stars bursting pearl cinders
Platinum moon smiling bright
Comets holding their breath
Circadian rhythms echoing softly
Feathered creatures flapped and crooned
Morning sun rose in admiration
Butterflies danced in adulation
A magical sensation
Cosmic jubilation
Her name murmured softly in the wind
Megan Laurine, Warrior Woman
Mighty Meg
The Universe is put on notice
Our precious diamond would shine
Lifting us towards utopia
Eyes that comfort and soothe
Contagious engaging smile
Igniting the fires of cosmic reality
Life gleamed undiminished
Until the ills of fate crept in
Left its loathsome stench
The burnt smell of betrayal
A gallery of people beside her
The walls of the hospital drenched
In the tears of so many children
Who had come this way before her
The walls screamed in exhaustion
Hearing the Wailing of despondent parents
An unending corridor
A spiral staircase to Hell
The halls of healing fell silent
Machines of life monitoring no more
No longer having purpose
Boasting an analogy of our reality
A once Technicolor world
Now gray cold and lonely
Our crying eyes watched
As heaven burnt to the ground
The smoke blurred our vision
From Iscariots lips
A burning ember kissed my cheek
Leaving a deep laceration
A scar leaving a furrow
To be forever filled with despair
The world turned inside out
Senseless and absurd
Void of purpose
Hopelessness abounded
But a natal event
Lifting our wings once more
Liberated Megan’s legacy
To be shared with everyone
Twenty five years ago today
A tiny little spark soared up in the sky
Finding her place amongst the stars
Where she shines her light on us everyday
We love you Meg
Shine on you crazy diamond
